We have all heard the saying, “your network is your net worth.” In a profession where developing and maintaining relationships are key, how does one increase their “net worth?”
February seems like a fitting month to take a magnifying glass to our relationships; and while we often hear of their importance, we don’t always discuss the work that goes into building your network.
We asked the Partners at Political Solutions to provide their best advice in building longstanding relationships within the Capitol community (and beyond). Here’s what they had to say:
“Always treat people the way you want to be treated, no matter their position- with kindness, integrity, and honesty.”
– Kristin Beard-King, Founding Partner, Political Solutions
“My most meaningful relationships in the Capitol community are a direct result of mentorship – being mentored when I first started, and now proudly serving as a mentor to the next generation of leaders.”
– Angela Blanchard, Partner, Political Solutions
“Networking is a great way to build and strengthen relationships – attend events, join organizations, do volunteer work if possible, all of these will lead to building relationships organically.”
– Tami Miller, Founding Partner, Political Solutions
“There is no one more important than you. Treat everyone no matter their status, title, or position with respect, friendliness and dignity.”
– Stacy Dwelley, Founding Partner, Political Solutions
Our network reflects who we are, where we have been and opens the door for new opportunities.
Happy relationship building!
